Kyle’s scratched his name
On the bus shelter with his key.
Single please.
Up and down Princes Street,
Posters advertise SALE –
Always white on red,
The colours of blood cells.
The colours of Father Christmas.
Out of the city centre there are
Closed down shops
With whited out windows.
Shutterboards.
Grills.
Out of service. Closed. Fermé.
A pistachio walkway
Is lit up over the tracks at Haymarket.
I see SREBRAB
Reflected in red capital letters on the bus window.
SALE. Everywhere. SALE.
Always white on red.
The colours of blood cells.
The colours of panic.
