Betwixt

To the Broadway Chippie with our likeminded lads
Or sip coffee politely like Morningside dads.
Cornices, council flats and the new build
Old tie or modern with memories filled.
Petrified, gentrified or simply passé
Bungalow regiment, a fine place to stay.
Amongst sadness and madness, Charity Shop Land
Jumble saling, tennis playing, healthy and tanned.
Jogging, dog-walking and rat-running tanks
Old folk and toddlers and workers in banks.
Recycle, do yoga, take the bus 23.
A tension, a richness, a dilemma for me.
Greenbank won’t wobble, it’s solid and steady
What I was, will be or I am already?
